DS Automobiles CEO Confirms Technology Sharing
They are the three premium brands of the new automotive giant
Stellantis is the result of the merger of the PSA Group and Fiat-Chrysler. Its head, Carlos Tavares, said at its foundation that this union would allow attention to brands that until now had been neglected, such as Lancia, which will experience a rebirth as a premium brand.
The fact of the matter is that, in these times, cooperation between brands in the same group is essential. It is the moment of technological collaboration and Béatrice Foucher, the CEO of DS Automobiles, explains that they will create “a premium group” with Alfa Romeo and Lancia to grow together.
“Having brothers and sisters will make us stronger,” explains Foucher. “We can develop new premium technology that we can share with our brands, technology that might have been too expensive if we had been alone.”
“Obviously we will work with all the firms in the group –Stellantis–, but we will also have to create specific models for the three premium brands, which means that we will have to work hand in hand with those other manufacturers –Alfa Romeo and Lancia–”.
Foucher made these comments during the presentation of the new DS 4, which is the first model that the firm has presented since the creation of Stellantis – although its development took place under the umbrella of the PSA Group, obviously.
DS Automobiles wants to expand its portfolio to six vehicles, which are two more than it now has –DS 3 Crossback, DS 4, DS 7 Crossback, DS 9–.
