The organization of the 2021 season of Chilean football is a matter for the ANFP, especially considering the mess left by 2020 with the coronavirus pandemic and the long months without competition locally and internationally.
That is why in the ANFP Championship Commission They are already analyzing the proposals to shape a new football year in our country, an instance that all albos hope will be with Colo Colo Playing still in the First Division after overcoming this anguishing struggle not to be relegated.
At the moment there is three ways and modalities to resume Chilean football once this 2020 season is over, all with their calendars and special modalities to define the champion, those classified for international cups and the descents for 2022.
The ANFP proposal:
Perhaps the rarest and most exotic of all, since aims to create a single wheel tournament, where the 17 teams will compete for 16 dates with a draw to establish the locality. After this regular phase, lThe table is divided into two competitions with the first eight to define the champion and the last nine will fight not to be relegated.
The funny thing about this is that The table to define the champion will also distribute those classified to the international cups, something more or less logical, but so will the table to define the descendants, where the first will go to the South American Cup 2022.
Furthermore, in this proposal is play the Express Chile 2020 Cup during March, while the 2021 edition will be played in the second half of the year and will deliver Chile 4’s quota to Libertadores 2021.
SIFUP also has its project:
The Professional Footballers Union also submitted its proposal for the football year 2021, the former goalkeeper being Luis Marín, secretary of the union, in charge of publicizing his project.

“We are making a proposal for a type of championship that we believe should be appropriate in relation to what has been experienced. This year will be very complicated and we hope that our proposal will be reviewed and seen”, said in conversation with ADN Radio.
Along the same lines, he added that “We deliver it in great detail: three divisions, Chile Cup, Long Championship, a new championship that is a League championship in America’s Cup, classification to cups, promotions and relegation and the respective dates, considering the presidential elections.”

In this way, the union rules out any option to play a short tournament by scheduling the First Division, First B and Second Professional Division to be played in parallel, between the months of April and December. “The long tournament corresponds. It helps continuity and is proven in the best leagues in the world, which is one of the most exciting championships. In fact, it is reflected that being in a pandemic we have this definition“, concluded Marín.
The word from TNT Sports:
In addition to the ANFP and the SIFUP, the entity that entered this debate was the televising in charge of Turner with TNT Sports, who also proposed a Chilean soccer schedule with 2021 in mind.
For TV everything must start from March 14 with the definition of the 2020 Super Cup slope between Colo Colo and Universidad Católica, and then give way to Copa Chile 2020, also pending, on the 19th of the same month and which must end before the end of the first semester.

further, the national tournament should start on March 26 and could be played with a system of a league in a long tournament, or as two short tournaments. In this case, the dates allow one of them to be defined with playoffs.
The Chile Cup 2021 also has its place in this schedule, starting after the Copa América 2021 organized by Argentina and Colombia and where you will be asked to start without the selected players.
Three paths that must be analyzed and put into practice for a new year that aims to be as difficult to move forward in football terms as the one that left us.
