With the main objective of promoting soccer and competition throughout the region, the Concacaf announced this Thursday afternoon that Champions League of clubs will be played in a different format for the 2023-2024 season.

The idea is that in the last semester of 2023 a Group Stage will be played by regions, and in the first six months of 2024 the finals stage will be held, in a tournament that includes 50 teams.

The phase and regional classification it will be played as follows:

  • North America: there will be 20 teams divided into four groups of five clubs each. The first and second places will go directly to the Round of 32, and three more will join this stage, which will come out of a Repechage after the Group Stage.
  • Central America: There will also be 20 clubs divided into four groups of five, with the distinction that in this area only four teams will qualify, which will result from the clashes between the first four and the second best places.
  • Caribe: in the region 10 teams will participate in two groups of five. The best of each sector will play a key to define the club that will represent them in the Round of 16 of the competition.

In the Final Phase there will be a total of 16 clubs that comprise it: 11 from North America, four from Central America and one from the Caribbean. The duels will be a direct knockout and the Final will be played in a single game.
