De’Aaron Fox considers it “stupid” to play All-Star amid the covid-19 pandemic | Football24 News English

Sports writing (USA), Feb 5 (EFE) .- The starting point guard of the Sacramento Kings, De’Aaron Fox, described as something “stupid” that the Players Union and the league try to organize the Game of Las Estrellas, in Atlanta, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Several journalistic sources have reported that both parties are working on an agreement so that the match could be played on March 7 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

“If I’m going to be brutally honest, I think it’s stupid,” Fox said after leading the Kings to a victory over the Boston Celtics. “If we have to wear a mask and do all of this for a regular game, what’s the point for the All-Star Game back? Obviously, money makes the world go round, so it is what it is,” he said.

Despite his reference to the NBA’s coronavirus-related protocols, Fox stated that he is “not really concerned” about playing in the All-Star Game if he is selected.

“If they vote for me, so be it,” said Fox, 23, who is having an outstanding season with the Kings, averaging 22.3 points and 6.6 assists per game.

He was not among the top 10 guard-guards in the Western Conference in initial fan voting, which was announced Thursday.

Fox was also asked if he would choose to play if he were selected to the Western Conference roster. “You know you get fined, if you’re supposed to participate and you’re not injured and you decide not to play, it’s a hefty fine. So heck yeah I’d play in it.”

Officially the NBA has not yet released the plans it has for the possible game, while what was already official was the cancellation of the Weekend that was scheduled to take place in the Indianapolis.
