In the past season, Formula 1 was considering possibilities to increase the show. Some option that was proposed was that of the inverted grills or even sprint races in a similar way to how it happened in F2 and F3 until now. Even so, none came to fruition, but it is still being proposed for the next few seasons to change the usual format. Stefano Domenicali, the new head of the category, affirms that he wants to carry out sprint races from this same campaign and thus assess whether to keep them in the future or not. As the format has been unchanged in these years, he would like the teams to also be in favor to propose different changes.
Initiatives to promote the show
“The inverted grills are over, it is something I can count on. I think it is important to think of new ideas that are more attractive or interesting. Nor do we have to lose the traditional approach to competition. What we have learned in that period of changes in Qualifying every other day has been that we need to avoid it. The format has been quite stable so far, so we are looking to do sprint races on Saturdays. We are thinking that we could try it this year, there are talks with the teams and I think it could be interesting “, had affirmed the current director of F1 in the Racer portal.
