F1 2021: Official: Grosjean goes to the IndyCar, but does not race on fences | Football24 News English

Romain Grosjean has revealed its future this Wednesday. The Frenchman, who has been part of Haas F1 until last year, will race the IndyCar with the Dale Coyne Racing team (where he was last year lex Palou, which incidentally has gone to Ganassi), but will not do the competition in its entirety.

The 34-year-old Frenchman, who has on his resume 10 podiums in his 180 F1 grands prix, will take part in all 13 races on traditional and urban circuits on the IndyCar calendar in the 2021 season. That is, what I will not do is the appointments in the valos Texas Motor Speedway (which this year hosts two events) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 105th edition of the Indianapolis 500.

Grosjean also plans to do the WEC (World Endurance Championship) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the future.. But for now I’ll focus on the IndyCar and do not dare with the valos for “for the love of their children”. The Frenchman does not want to put himself in danger, especially considering the shocking accident he suffered in 2020 at the Bahrin Grand Prix. He saved his life, although he came out with burns on his feet and hands from which he has recovered quite well.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to race in the United States in IndyCar. I had different options for this season and opting for the IndyCar was definitely my favorite, although I am not ready for the values yet! IndyCar has a much more balanced grid regarding what I am used to in my career so far. It will be exciting to fight for podiums and victories again, “emphasized Grosjean.

Finally, it should be noted that Grosjean’s first test with the DCR-RWR car is planned to be next February 22 at Barber Motorsports Park.
