So how should #UCLfantasy coaches face the next phase of the competition? Here are some tips:

Choose players from various teams

Opting for players from very few teams that you think will go to the quarterfinals is tempting, but it is a risky strategy. Every year we see surprising results in the UEFA Champions League and you don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you don’t have enough free transfers to fill your squad with players available in future rounds. Being flexible with your choice of footballers is probably better news in the long run.

A captain on every match day

Matchday 7 takes place on four different days (February 16/17 and February 23/24), a situation that offers the #UCLfantasy coaches four options when it comes to the captaincy. By including powerful options on each day, you maximize your chances of choosing a captain who provides a lot of points. The decision to keep or change the captain is more important than ever in the knockout phase. So decide in advance the points with which you will be satisfied for your captain.

Do an intensive analysis

A good performance in the group stage is no guarantee that he will continue into the round of 16 and beyond, especially since the period between matchday six and matchday 7 is more than two months. Many things can change in this time, so before selecting each player consider their current situation. Are they or their team in good shape? Have they been headlines on a regular basis? In fact, you may discover some assets that you had not previously considered. As the deadline for Matchday 7 approaches, check out our article on UEFA.com about likely line-ups. Maximise your chips

While some returning #UCLfantasy trainers may have one or both wild cards (Wild Card and Wild Card No Limits) available, new entrants will have an advantage over many in that they will definitely have both early on. Using these perks at the right time can have a huge impact on your score, so it’s worth weighing your options before each day to see if they’re worth activating.

Awards

A PS5 is raffled each day! To participate in the raffle you only have to do one of the following things:

  • Choose a team
  • Make a change
  • Make a transfer

There are also additional prizes for the top three finishers each day and for those finishing in the top three in the knockout stage standings and overall standings. Review all the awards.
