Ronald Koeman recently complained about Paris Saint-Germain openly discussing Lionel Messi‘s future and Lyon coach Rudi Garcia has recalled the period when the Dutchman did something similar.
Last summer, Koeman publicly requested Barcelona to sign current Lyon forward Memphis Depay, who is under contract with the Ligue 1 side and whose deal runs until June.
“I have read that Ronald Koeman was a bit offended that PSG spoke about Leo Messi before the Champions League tie between PSG and Barcelona,” Garcia told BeIN Sports.
“He was not shy in talking about Memphis Depay even after the transfer market closed. I call that: it never rains but it pours.”
Garcia expressed his frustration about Koeman‘s remarks last November too, after the summer transfer window came to an end.
“Remind me to trip Ronald Koeman up [the next time I see him],” Garcia said in a press conference.
“Now is not the time. We will have an opportunity to do it, don’t worry. My 18cm studs are always in my boots and I’ll put on my good boots at the right time.”
Barcelona failed to reach an agreement with Lyon to sign Savings last summer and the Dutch forward has been legally in a position to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs since January 1.
