Grosjean to race IndyCar in 2021 with Dale Coyne | Football24 News English

He will compete on the entire calendar except in the ovals “for the love of his children”

The Frenchman, after a decade in Formula 1, enters a new category for him

The news, advanced by the American magazine Racer, has been confirmed by Grosjean himself to the Race Fans web portal minutes before the press conference that the pilot had scheduled on his Twitch channel.

Romain returns to action for the first time after being born again in Bahrain, when he suffered a very serious accident at the start of his last Formula 1 race. The Frenchman, whom Haas has not renewed for 2021, opts for a new path: the IndyCar.

Grosjean will make his debut on April 18 in his first race in the category at Barber Motorsports Park and will compete in a total of 13 of the 17 races. His calendar excludes ovals such as Texas, Indianapolis World Wide Technology Raceway, the most dangerous appointments, in which he argues that he does not compete “for the love of his children.”

Grosjean lands on the team in which our columnist Alex Palou ran last season, with which the Spaniard achieved a podium at Road America. The team have been without victories since 2018, when Sébastien Bourdais won in St. Petersburg. However, Romain is willing to change that.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to race in the United States in IndyCar. I had different options for this season and opting for the IndyCar was definitely my favorite, although I am not ready for the ovals yet!” Said Grosjean.

“The IndyCar has a much more balanced grill than I am used to in my career thus far. It will be exciting to fight for podiums and victories again“, added the French to close.
