This Saturday, Atenas and Ferro reissued one of the historic classics of the National Basketball League. The match was played at Héctor Etchart and the Greek won 68-61.
Nzeakor was the figure of the General Bustos neighborhood team with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
The first minutes of the game were a preview of what was going to be seen throughout the first half: a tough game, much disputed and point by point. Both teams suffered with losses in the first quarter, which ended with the partial victory of the Cordovan team 14-13.
In the second quarter, the trend that had marked the start of the match continued. The firm marks and the errors in both teams kept the two teams unconverted for a space of more than two minutes. A 7-0 run gave Atenas the lead over the close of the quarter, but Sebastián Mignani and Tomás Spano matched the actions again before the close of the first half. The break of the match in favor of Athens came in the third quarter, the Greek stacked a 9-0 run and got the maximum of the match. With the first two triples of the meeting, those from the General Bustos neighborhood closed the part of 22-14.
In the final quarter, Athens was firm in the opening minutes, which allowed them to keep the difference in favor at the start. However, near the end, Ferro narrowed the gap to two points but the Greek became strong again and closed the game 68-61.
Athens’ next match will be on Monday at 7 p.m. against San Lorenzo.
