Was it coming home? Was it the time, the sun, the warm afternoon? Whatever conspired has resulted in a very good soccer match between Independiente Santa Fe and Patriotas, for the fourth day of the League.
From the opening whistle to the end there were two teams determined to attack each other, focused on the game, loyal and inspired, who offered more than one luxury play before agreeing to a 1-0 home victory, which in fact was always at risk on account from the firm decision of the visitor to seek a tie until the final whistle.
The game leaned very early to the cardinal side, at 13 minutes, when Johan Caballero assisted Jhon Arias and he scored a jewel: phenomenal shot above, unapproachable for Mosquera, which is very high, but left a minimum space for the celebration of the homeowner in El Campín.
Arias himself missed the second goal at 19 when he was rejected by Mosquera, but with his whole body he saved his door.
Patriots asked for a hand in the area that was not intentional, those in green cheered on the still ball but the cardinal team was safe in their territory, until at 24 the visitor gave the first big scare, when Rito and Puerta got together, but Castellanos saved by coming out opportunely to cut the game.
A deflected header from Palacio at 32 was the red response and so the teams went to rest, without shots at the goal but with a lot of wear in the game on the wings.
At 51 Osorio was encouraged and a minute later they all joined in attack, Caballero Osorio, even Arias disturbed the passive rival defense, but due to an out of place he denied Andrés Pérez the goal of the touch-touch.
At 61 Patriotas responded and showed that he knows how to make endless passes and finish them with chest control and furious shot, even if the newspaper photo was ruined by a well-placed goalkeeper … as well as Solano against Castellanos, as is. He painted for a great goal!
At 65 Osorio appeared on the left to put the center to Arias, but the shaking in the area ended in a penalty without discussion that Torijano charged, very sung for Mosquera’s save. Osorio asked you, Torijano, but you didn’t let him!
With blood in his eye, Santa Fe returned to attack, but Vanegas rejected the ball in his area when Mosquera went to the side to close the angle.
Valdés, Pico, Sherman Cárdenas and Seijas were already on the court to refresh the attack, but there was no way to harm the inspired Mosquera and the punishing sun from Bogotá was already wreaking havoc on both squads. Santa Fe had a couple more options at the end to extend the advantage, it seemed that at 86 it was consolidated but was canceled out of place.
In the end, Santa Fe added a hard-fought victory, which increases its merit, and Patriotas left El Campín with the certain suspicion of having deserved something more.
