Madrid, Feb 8 (EFE) .- The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Irene Lozano, highlighted the work of the Young Sports Foundation in commemorating its 25th anniversary and spoke of its use “as a great tool for transformation” , “through innovation, ecological transition and equality in sport.”
Lozano highlighted his presence “in decisive events” and his work in aspects such as “the fight for equality through sport” and his activity “by achieving a public-private collaboration tool led by the CSD with the participation of companies, that are so important for sport “, alluding to its involvement in events of exceptional public interest and priority patronage activities.
“Most of the work continues to be directed to that other side of sport, which is the most social. Also, to the promotion of healthy activity through sport, which is something we are going to put a lot of emphasis on, as well as promoting physical activity and dedication to vulnerable groups, “he said.
Lozano expressed this way during the institutional act at the CSD headquarters to celebrate its creation on this day in 1996, the result of the merger with the Lilí Álvarez Foundation, one of the first references in Spanish women’s sport, which they attended, among others , the general directors of Sports and of the Foundation, Joaquín de Arístegui and Félix Jordán de Urríes, respectively.
The head of the Foundation reviewed actions and programs promoted by it, as well as next actions, and stressed the importance of joint work with the Higher Sports Council, since “without their support and monitoring, we would not have the impact that we currently have in the society”.
“The contribution of the foundation during these 25 years has been very great for sport, in particular, and in general for society, as a carrier of values. Its support to athletes, entities and federations has made Spanish sport better and more great “, said the Olympic medalist in handball Eli Pinedo, in an act with a wide presence of members of the Board and managers linked to the entity since its creation, led by the journalist Paloma del Río.
The CSD Foundation recalled that in its 25 years “it has carried out intense work for the benefit of youth, athletes and society in general, with the mission of improving the lives of all people through sport”, with the support of the firms integrated into its board of trustees and with new lines of action “to contribute effectively to the development and growth of Spanish sport.” EFE
