Marcus Rashford left his name engraved in the great history of Manchester United. The The 23-year-old striker hit an impressive 83 goals in the Red Devils jersey, surpassing the mark of the legendary Eric Cantona.
The Englishman scored the second goal of United’s 9-0 win against Southampton in the Premier League, an instance in which Wan-Bissaka, Bednarek, Cavani, Martial scored twice, McTominay, Fernanfes and James.
The Rashford’s target became her 83rd goal with the Red Devils jacket, surpassing the mark established by Cantona of 82 goals in 182 games played between December 1992 and May 1997.
“Special moment for me as a childhood United fan to beat King Eric’s record. I loved it tonight. Great team performance,” Rashford tweeted after the duel.
After breaking the important mark, Marcus Rashford now has another idol in his sights to reach: David Beckham, who managed to score 85 times in 394 games with the Red Devils jersey.
Despite his great moment under the command of Ole Gunnar Soskjaer, the English gunner still has a long road of legends ahead of him to seek to overcome, being the most difficult of all the historical Wayne Rooney.
Rashford will now look to hit the Beckham mark.
The legendary scorer, who recently announced his official retirement from football to take on full-time DT duties, scored a total of 253 goals in 559 official matches played alongside those of Old Trafford.
