VACCINATION PLAN

On Tuesday, the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell reported that the Mexican government signed a contract for 24 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which will soon receive authorization for emergency use in the country.
“Yesterday the secretary signed the Sputnik V contract and we have 400 thousand doses in February, 1 million doses in March, 6 million in April and the remainder in May,” reported the official in charge of managing the pandemic in the country .
Mexico’s announcement came hours after the scientific journal The Lancet published an interim analysis of data from the phase III trial of the Sputnik V vaccine, suggesting an efficacy of 91.6% with two doses.

Mexico has agreements for 34.4 million doses from Pfizer, 77.4 million from Britain’s AstraZeneca, 35 million from CanSino and 51.5 million from the Covax platform.
In addition, López Obrador negotiated with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, 24 million doses of the Sputnik V formula.
