According to Joel Sherman, it is for the 2021 season and will include 7-inning double headers and modified additional inning rules with running back starting at 2b. There is no universal DH that is currently part of the agreement.

Here are the rules specifically:

  • There will be no designated hitter.
  • Double 7-ticket billboards.
  • Emerging runner at second in extra innings.

There’s a great chance that when it’s seven-inning doubleheader, then if there will be a designated hitter on both teams in the MLB.
