Luka Jovic, Real Madrid striker, left on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt in the last winter market to once again recognize himself in the mirror, to meet again with that scoring version that drew attention at the Bernabéu but lost when he arrived in Spain. And it seems that returning to the team where he triumphed (27 goals in 48 games in 2018-19) has served his instinct to remember. In four meetings with the Germans he has already scored three goals. This Sunday, the Serbian forward (23 years old) gave an interview to Bundesliga.com in which he reviews his return to the German league and his experience in Madrid. Next, we publish an excerpt of it.
How was your return to the Bundesliga?
Great, really. I missed the Bundesliga a lot. I have very good memories of her and am happy to be back.
What were the important factors in your decision to return to Eintracht?
My goal was to get more playing time, to play more, and that’s the main reason I decided to come back.
How have you developed as a person and as a player?
I have certainly improved and grown in Madrid, although it is a different dimension. It was an honor to play for the biggest club in the world and a joy to train with the best players in the world.
In the footballing sense, what did you get out of your time at Real Madrid? What did you learn from people like Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema?
It was difficult at first because I was still young, I was 21 years old. It took me a while to settle down and understand the fact that I was with the best players in the world for the last 10 years in various positions. I have definitely learned a lot and have come back with more experience.
Were you able to develop a special instinct as a player and forward alongside those teammates?
Of course. There are players you learn from every day. Training against the best defenders was a good education for me.
What is your greatest strength?
It is not for me to say. Others should explain, but I can say that I am a fox in the area and I am always well positioned.
Do you feel like a Bundesliga star?
The truth is, no. I have returned to regain a bit of confidence, to return to my previous level, not to be called a star. I’m back because it was the best option for me at the moment. “
Who was your football idol as a child?
There were many. Ronaldo, then Ibrahimovic, but I can say that Falcao was the one I saw the most. I think we have a similar style of play and I would like to be as successful as he is one day. “
