Real Madrid shows pride in Huesca
A double by Varane gives credit to the reigning champion after going back to a daring bottom
MADRID, 6 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid got up in El Alcoraz (1-2) thanks to a double by Raphael Varane, an unusual protagonist with his success, in a duel that had everything and where the reigning champions took the pride that their coach demanded in the wheel of press prior to matchday 22 in LaLiga Santader.
Varane was the extension of ‘Zizou’ in the green, the best reflection that there are still credentials that excite this Real Madrid, although it is necessary to “make changes” next season, as Zidane recognized this Friday. Varane was joined by Benzema, who touched the goal on several occasions, and they were joined by Vinicius who was the best fuel at the beginning.
The casualties mattered little, up to eight, some of them as relevant as Sergio Ramos, who underwent surgery this Saturday, or Hazard, who extinguishes any hope injury after injury. The whites, with almost no bench and with the presence of Chust and Marvin, two homegrown players, grew as the minutes passed and they knew how to find the version that their coach likes so much.
Zidane returned to the bench after overcoming the coronavirus and he did it on a Saturday that started crooked even with time. The rain visited the Alto Aragonese stadium giving speed to the ball and in a few minutes Rafa Mir showed his great confidence, after the triplet in Zorrilla, with a shot to the side of the net. He was the best in Pacheta’s team, which has improved its horizon although it is still at the bottom of the table.
Vinicius also did not hit the key on the opposite side, but he was the most vertical, always accelerating but failing, also as almost always, as is usual, at the decisive moment. Modric, with a long shot, completed the offensive baggage of a Real Madrid who did not sit well at rest. Huesca grew, gained meters and removed the seams of the improvised merengue defense.
Javi Galán, two minutes after the restart, scored a real goal for Courtois’ squad giving wings to his team, which could have changed history in the 50th minute with a ball off the crossbar from Rafa Mir. The ex of Valencia had the 2-0 in his boots, but Madrid came out alive and shot with pride. There the film changed from beginning to end. Benzema answered with the same medicine.
The Frenchman launched a foul on the edge of the area and the ball was suspended in the air after hitting the wood. When he fell, like a stalactic, Varane stuck his head in and tied the duel. It was then that the best occasions of the Zidane team followed one after another. Asensio, Benzema, on two occasions, and Marcelo ran into a superb Álvaro Fernández.
But the Huesca goalkeeper could do nothing six minutes from the end, in another set piece. On this occasion, the play was born from Kroos’ boots and Casemiró finished off with the rejection reaching an opportunist Varane, who only had to push her at the far post. A triumph of pride that gives Real Madrid license to continue believing, seven points behind Atlético, and with two more games, while Huesca slows its reaction after the good performance of the last weeks.
