Seven youth players from the Puerto Varas Basketball Association -5 from CDSC Puerto Varas and 2 from Alemán Puerto Varas- were called to be part of the national basketball preselection in the U18, U17 and U16 categories.
Regarding this call, Cristian Teuber, CDSC Puerto Varas leader commented: “It is a tremendous pride for us as leaders, coaching staff and the CDSC Puerto Varas family in general, we are a training club and this is a sign that they are doing things well ”.
U16
The members of the 2005-2006 category will begin their preparation for their participation in the South American Championship of the specialty that will be held this year. Cristian Santander, head coach of the men’s national teams, designed a first call-up that includes 39 players. The preparation will be virtual at the beginning, once the return to the fields is possible due to the context of the pandemic in some regions of the country.
The local youths were summoned to this preselection: Milan Cresp Machuca and Thomas Ojeda, both from CDSC Puerto Varas.
U17
2021 will give an opportunity for the 2004-2005 category meeting. The preparation, their effort and the desire will point to the South American U-17 Championship to be held in September, in Venezuela. The first call is made up of 27 players, boys who will work under the direction of head coach Cristian Santander.
Young people were invited to this shortlist: Sebastián Barrientos Núñez, Benjamín Araya Ulloa and Erick Anabalón Martínez, all from CDSC Puerto Varas.
U18
The Bolivarian Youth Games 2021 will be one of the international commitments that national teams will face in the coming months. In that sense, the U-18 will be in charge of participating and competing in the regional event in the male branch.
In this regard, the head coach Cristian Santander defined a list with 19 players to integrate the first call of the category.
Young Benjamín Aguilera Vergara and Benjamín Haines Carrasco, both from Alemán Puerto Varas, were invited to this preselection.
