Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea is starting to get used to winning and this Sunday they defeated (1-2) the bottom of the table, Sheffield United, to get into European positions.
The ‘Blues’, who have not known defeat since the German coach arrived, won with goals from Mason Mount and Jorginho, this one from the penalty spot, to go to fifth place with 39 points.
Dominant as they have been since Tuchel arrived, Chelsea were superior in the first half, although VAR annulled an offside penalty to the ‘Blades’, and their attitude was rewarded when Mason Mount finished off a good play by Timo Werner.
Although the German was left without scoring once again, at least he distributed the assistance of the first goal and later caused the penalty of the second.
Without creating hardly any danger, Sheffield United was given the draw, in an inexplicable transfer of Antonio Rudiger who sent the ball directly to his goalkeeper.
The Blues were not nervous and Werner forced the winning penalty when he tried to dribble Aaron Ramsdale and he knocked him down. The referee didn’t pit it first, but he did when he checked it on the VAR screen.
Jorginho converted it and Chelsea got their third win in a row at the same time that it prevented Sheffield United from leaving the bottom of the table.
