The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol created a new competition to start developing from 2022. It is the Brazilian Super Cup that will open the season, played at the beginning of next year.
The tournament will count eight teams among the best classified of the Brasileirão Femenino A1 (First Division) and A2 (Second Division) of the 2021 season. The format will be playoffs and the quotas will be distributed among the twelve best of the First Division and the four best of the Second Division, taking into account that there will be one representative per State. In case of not having a representative per State in those positions marked above, the National Women’s Soccer Ranking will be used.
The quarterfinals will be a single match, while the semi-final and final will be played in round-trip matches.
With this announcement from the CBF, from next year, Brazil will have three competitions. The Super Cup, the state tournaments and the Brasileirão. As a result of this, the Brazilian teams will be active from February to October or November. In addition to the senior competitions, let us remember that it also has youth Brazilians (U18 / U16) and the U14 and U16 Development League.
