David Iriarte in the match against Lleida (JOS VELASCO)
New displacement for the Coviran Granada. Pablo Pin’s team, which has its entire squad available for the match, will face Bàsquet Girona in a match that will be played next Sunday at 12:00 at the Fontajau pavilion. The red and black team will try to win again at home after the defeat suffered last Tuesday at the Palacio de Deportes against ICG Força Lleida.
The Catalan team beat Coviran Granada 80-83 after taking the lead in the final minutes. Pablo Pin’s team accused the lack of rhythm after 42 days without competing, since the last time they did it was on December 22. The best local players were Bamba Fall and Lluís Costa, who finished with a PIR of 20 and 15, respectively.
The Nasrids will face their second match of the week on Sunday. Pablo Pin could already count on his entire squad last Tuesday and in the Fontajau pavilion he will be able to enjoy all his players again to try to return to the path of victory against a Girona Basketball that is also fighting to get among the top five.
The team chaired by Marc Gasol has suffered the departures of Aleix Font and Dani García, who were on loan from Casademont Zaragoza and Baxi Manresa, respectively. In addition, Bàsquet Girona has incorporated Kari Jonsson (former FC Barcelona veteran) and Pedro Barral, an Argentine point guard who comes from the French l’ALM Évreux.
The Catalan team also played their last game on Tuesday, as did Coviran Granada. The team led by Carles Marco was defeated against HLA Alicante by 74-62 in a match that was decided in the second and third quarters. The best visitors were Biram Faye and Gerard Sevillano. The pivot scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and added a PIR of 16. For his part, the forward scored 6 points, collected 4 rebounds, distributed 3 assists, received 5 fouls and went to a PIR of 13.
Before the clash against Pedro Rivero’s team, Coviran Granada’s rival had chained two consecutive victories against Levitec Huesca and TAU Castelló.
The most prominent player of the premises is Albert Sabat. The 35-year-old guard averages 10.1 points, 3.4 assists and a PIR of 9.8. The exteriors that accumulate the most minutes at Bàsquet Girona are Pep Busquets and Gerard Sevillano. The first averages 9.2 points, while the second adds a PIR of 8 per game.
Inside the Coviran Granada rival’s references are Ryan Logan, Davis Rozitis and Biram Faye. The American averages 7’9 points, the Latvian 8’5 and the Senegalese 7’3. Between the three they capture almost 12 rebounds per game.
Coviran Granada will have to be focused during the 40 minutes and gradually recover the rhythm of the competition against a team that will fight for a victory that would allow them to look towards the top of the classification.
The match between both teams can be followed through PTV Granada, LaLigaSports or on the CB Granada Foundation Twitter account (@FundacionCBG).
