Quito –
The Ecuadorian women’s soccer team is finalizing preparations to face the international championships in 2021 with an eye on the Copa América and the U17 Soccer World Cup, among other commitments.
Under the command of Brazilian technical director Emily Lima, the women’s “Tricolor” is getting ready for the international and national championships this year, starting with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) dates.
It also focuses on the preparation for the Copa América and the selection of new players who are active in Ecuador and the US for the U17 World Cup.
The commitments start in the first semester with the FIFA international championship, planned based on meetings carried out by the coaching staff led by Lima.
“We have a year and a half for the Copa América and starting 2021 like that is very good, it gives us one more illusion to work, because the FEF (Ecuadorian Football Federation) today looks at women’s football in a different way,” said the coach of Ecuador.
Another of the proposed objectives will be to expand the database with the selection of Ecuadorian players through visits to different provinces of the country, without neglecting those who play for teams in the United States.
“In general, we have an average of 120 to 130 players observed in the categories from Sub’17 to absolute,” added Lima.
The monitoring of new national players is part of a “scouting” strategy, which will be presented to the Technical Secretariat of the “Tri” to strengthen the performance of the Ecuadorian team.
On the other hand, Ecuadorian teams plan to participate in the championships of the Women’s Amateur Soccer League Serie A, the country’s highest female amateur category, which will start with 16 clubs from different provinces on February 12 and whose result will benefit two teams that will be promoted to the 2021 Women’s Super League.
In Lima’s sports agenda, there is also the planning of microcycles throughout the year to reinforce the physical preparation of athletes.
“Together with girls who like to work, who are honest as people and footballers, we can make everything go well to qualify for the World Cup in Australia,” said the coach in a video provided by the Ecuadorian Federation. (D)
