Guayaquil (Ecuador), Feb 3 (EFE) .- The Sports Secretariat completed this Wednesday the delivery of overdue values from last year to the 25 Ecuadorian federations for the urgent attention of athletes who are preparing for the next Tokyo Olympic Games it said in a statement.
The disbursement amounts to 2,821,418.23 dollars, delivered to 25 sports federations that managers, athletes and even by the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE), chaired by Augusto Morán, had been demanding.
The Undersecretary of High Performance, Eduardo González, specified that last year’s first disbursement was delivered in March, for 30%, while the remaining 70% occurred in three parts: the first, at the end of 2020 and the other two parties these days.
These resources will allow the federations to attend to the preparation of classified athletes and those who are about to achieve it for the Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as to equip them with the multidisciplinary teams that must accompany them in their training, in addition to their general and specific needs.
The State portfolio also approved the use of remnants in applicability of agreements 001 and 0627 of the Annual Operational Plan of current spending and investment spending, for 16 of the 25 sports federations, money that will be used for different events, payments to coaches, acquisition of equipment and general needs.
The total of these resources amounts to 1,673,010.15 dollars distributed in 223,047.20 dollars for the current Annual Operating Plan and 1,449,962.95 dollars for the Annual Operating Plan of investment.
Approved federations for holdover use are: Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Equestrian, Bodybuilding and Power, Judo, Kickboxing, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Swimming, Skating, Pitch Tennis, Table Tennis, Archery, Shooting olympic and volleyball.
The twelve athletes qualified for Tokyo are: Alex Quiñónez, in the 200 meter dash; Glenda Morejón and Karla Jaramillo, in a 20-kilometer march; Brian Pintado and Andrés Chocho in a 20-kilometer march; Chocho also qualified in the 50 kilometer march and Paola Bonilla in the marathon.
In cycling: Richard Carapaz, Jefferson Cepeda and Jonathan Caicedo.
In modern pentathlon, Marcela Cuaspud; in sports shooting, Diana Durango and Marisol Pérez.
While others are one or two competitions of the Olympic cycle for sports and with accumulation of points that have them on the edge of the Olympic classification.
