The All-Star Team of the 63rd Caribbean Series has sonorous names from baseball such as Puerto Rican Yadier Molina and Dominican Robinson Canó, meritorious members of the ideal team. The group is dominated by the Quisqueyanos, who occupy six of the 11 player positions, plus manager Félix Fermín.
Molina, dividing time between first base and catcher, hit 20-5 in the five games of the Caguas Criollos in the regular phase of the tournament, with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. For his part, Canó had an incredible .706 on-base percentage in four qualifying round games, hitting 11-6 (.545) with six walks.
Other prominent figures on the All-Star Team are Dominicans Juan Lagares (event leader with two homers and seven RBIs) and Melky Cabrera (second in RBIs with five).
On the mound, Carlos Martínez was the chosen starting pitcher, after throwing a total of 11.1 innings in two outings in which he allowed just four hits and a single run, with 15 strikeouts.
