After the transfer of Nolan Arenado to the San Luis Cardinals became official, the Rockies shortstop, Trevor Story, kept nothing back and criticized his current organization for the decision they made around his great friend and now a former teammate of five years. It seems that Colorado has thrown in the towel in the West Division of the National for the 2021 season and that it has not even started the tournament, therefore, it does not sound unreasonable that before the next trade deadline, the Rockies also change to Story before becoming a free agent.
If that were to happen, one of the teams that hypothetically could fight for the services of the current best shortstopaccording to a list recently published by MLB, are the New York Yankees, whose team led by manager Aaron Boone clearly right now lacks a reliable shortstope, position currently covered by the Venezuelan Gleyber Torres.
Would the New York board be able to take Trevor Story as a trade option in case Gleyber continues to fail in 2021?
In fact, Torres was the league’s worst starting shortstop last year after making nine errors and finishing with a .933 fielding percentage in his first season as a full-time shortstop following the departure of Didi Gregorius from the franchise with headquarters in the Big Apple.
On the other hand, since his debut with Rockies and until the previous tournament, Story made a perfect dumbbell with Arenado, even many agreed that they were the best left part of the infield in the majors both on offense and defense.
