The La Rosaleda stadium will host this Saturday, March 27, the international match between the Norwegian and Turkish teams, an official qualifying match for the Qatar 2022 World Cup that was presented this Monday.
On this occasion, the Norwegian national team has chosen the Costa del Sol as the venue for this national team break. The circumstances of the COVID pandemic and the restrictions in the Norwegian country have given the city the opportunity to host this important meeting.
Coinciding that the Norwegian team will play another match on the 24th as a visitor against the Gibraltar national team, Marbella Football Center proposed to the Norwegian Federation to play their qualifying match against Turkey at the La Rosaleda stadium.
In this way, the Norwegian team has been concentrating on the Marbella Football Center facilities since March 19; on the 24th he will play in Gibraltar and on the 27th will be the match in Malaga, Norway against Turkey.
The meeting will be the second match of the qualifying phase for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In a group G made up of the Netherlands, Gibraltar, Latvia, Montenegro, Turkey and Norway.
Norwegian football knows the Costa del Sol to perfection, as most of the country’s first and second division teams are concentrated in the province each season. The Marbella Football Center facilities are already known to the Norwegian Federation with the arrival of lower teams in recent years.
Marbella Football Center, together with the organizing agency Football Impact, is a benchmark in concentrations and preseason of professional football teams that choose the province of Malaga when preparing for their leagues or important matches, as is the case of the national team of Norway.
Turismo Costa del Sol continues its commitment to the Sport Destination segment, attracting international teams to the destination to train and play important matches, as highlighted by the CEO of Tourism Costa del Sol, Margarita del Cid.
Del Cid has indicated that with this brand the Costa del Sol develops a specific segment for a tourism sector with great potential for the destination, “thanks to its privileged climate, excellent connectivity and the preparation of its infrastructures for the development of any sport, among which soccer, as the king of sports, has a role of singular importance “.
Turismo Costa del Sol continues to work for the Sport Destination segment in collaboration with Football Impact, with the aim of projecting the Costa del Sol brand to countries and cities that are especially interested in the sports offer.
An example is that, during the months of July and August, a total of 36 national and international teams have trained and faced other clubs in the sports facilities of the municipalities of the Costa del Sol with which Football Impact collaborates, distributed by the municipalities of Marbella (Marbella Football Center, La Dama de Noche, La Quinta Golf & Country Club) and Estepona (Complejo Deportivo Arroyo de Enmedio).
There are many European, Chinese, American teams, among others, that visit the Costa del Sol to carry out part of their training sessions throughout the year. During 2019, a total of 227 club stays were registered and more than 250 football matches were organized between elite teams, with an average stay of eight days and with about 40 people per club.
