Prior to the duel between Quimsa and San Pablo Burgos, a tournament was held at the Obras beaches, with 16 teams in both branches. “We hope it is the first of many”, wished the director of the discipline.
While the Temple of Rock was preparing to host the Intercontinental final between Quimsa and San Pablo Burgos, in the beaches of the Obras club there was a much more relaxed basketball climate. Music, outdoor games and a special play mat were part of the atmosphere generated by the 3×3: dynamics, fun and good vibes. Thus, with an invitation format that summoned 16 teams from both branches, the compelling discipline returned to Buenos Aires, after beginning with various tournaments in different parts of the Interior.
The day began at noon with the women’s tournament, in which two teams from José Hernández (blue and white) participated, two from the host club (yellow and black), another two from Vélez (blue and white), Deportivo Berazategui and Olimpo de Lanús . After a couple group stage, Berazategui managed to get into the final by beating Hernández Azul 15-10 in the semi, and on the other hand, Obras Negro did the same by beating his yellow pair 16-14. Those who celebrated were the southerners of Depo, who prevailed 11-8 in the defining match.
Then it was the men’s turn, who also had eight entries, although San Andrés did not present a team. Therefore, two teams from Architecture (red and white) competed, another two from Student Porteño (red and blue) and Works (yellow and black), in addition to Vélez. Both local representatives finished unbeaten in the regular stage, and after the 21-13 triumph of yellow over White Architecture, and of black against Vélez 16-12, the two Obras teams met in the final. There, yellow beat black 21-12 and lifted the trophy.
“We are very happy with what we were able to do”said Carlos Spellanzón, National Director of 3×3, to CABB press. “The 3×3 accompanied a very important event such as the Intercontinental Cup. May the discipline be present exalts us and even more so with the presence of the FIBA authorities worldwide, who saw the work we are doing”, he pointed.
“We are also happy that the work we carried out with the Argentine School of Referees during four months of the pandemic, with the talks and training sessions that were given together with Pablo Estévez and Fabricio Vito, coordinated by Sebastián Moncloba, have borne fruit. guys who came to direct were up to the task: they knew the 3×3 rules perfectly “, Spellanzón highlighted the work of the referees.
In the final stage of the balance, the director of the 3×3 celebrated the good call and the atmosphere that was generated in Obras. “The amount of teams that showed up and the cordiality that there was within the tournament are also to rejoice. It was very nice. Hopefully it is the first of many more”, Spellanzón concluded, with his wish that 3×3 would soon bring more young people back together on a basketball court.
