Daniel Ricciardo makes the seat for his first McLaren | Football24 News English

The team will present its car very soon, on February 15

Ricciardo to debut this year at McLaren with Norris as teammate

Ricciardo will be in charge of taking over from Carlos Sainz within the McLaren team. The Australian confirmed his signing for the British team in May 2020, but has had to wait up to almost nine months to visit the factory for the first time, where he has been able to see some of the most successful cars in the team’s history.

As usual, the first visit of the pilot to the factory is usually to make the seat and have the first contact with the engineers, and in the case of Ricciardo, it was nothing different. The Australian now has the cockpit for his first Mclaren ready and is ready to start a year in which he hopes to continue the upward trend that McLaren has been running since 2019.

Yesterday, Wednesday February 3, was Ricciardo’s first day with the team, but on Tuesday, his teammate, Lando Norris, returned to Woking to start preparing for this exercise. The young Briton, having already overcome covid-19, is looking forward to his third season with McLaren, in which he hopes to continue growing as a driver.

McLaren will aim to maintain third place in the Constructors’ Championship in 2021. Of course, they will not have it easy because an even tighter season is expected, with great competition from teams such as Ferrari, Aston Martin or Alpine. The team is ready for a new year, which will be the last before the beginning of the new era, in which McLaren has high hopes for a return to the top.

The presentation of the MCL35M, which bears the final M for the change to the Mercedes engine, will be on February 15. The team has already shared how their new power unit roars:

The # MCL35M roars into life.
