The refereeing team for the 55th Super Bowl game that takes place this Sunday between Tampa and Kansas City, has Sarah thomas, the first woman to serve as a judge in this great sporting event.

Thomas, 47, is one of the seven referees of the Super Bowl that is disputed in Tampa (Florida), exercising the role of judge of Downs.

In 2015, she became the first permanent judge in the history of the NFL and in 2019 the first to referee a playoff game.

“Sarah Thomas has made history again as the first female official of the Super Bowl,” congratulated NFL vice president of football operations Troy Vincent.

“His elite performance and commitment to excellence have earned him the right to referee the Super Bowl.” Carl Cheffers, with 21 seasons of NFL experience, will be the head referee for the Super Bowl for the second time in his career, after 2017. “They are the best of the best,” Vincent said of the judging team.
