Volkswagen’s plug-in hybrid family expands with the arrival of the Volkswagen Arteon eHybrid. It is already available in Spain, with a ZERO label from the DGT thanks to its electric autonomy of up to 59 kilometers, starting from the 43.960 euros, price that includes discounts and financing with the brand.
The newly renovated Volkswagen Arteon, which has received its first restyling after its premiere in 2017, arrives with important new features. And among them is this plug-in hybrid variant, the first echo that premieres, to which will also be added a sports version with the surname R.
The Arteon eHybrid It adds to the thermal variants already on sale since last summer and is available in its two most complete finishes: the Elegance and the sporty R-Line.
First cousin of the Skoda Superb iV
The PHEV version of the Volkswagen coupe saloon can be selected both in sedan body and in the familiar Shooting Brake, which is another of the novelties of this new installment.
The Arteon eHybrid comes to life thanks to a hybrid mechanics that combines a gasoline block 1.4 NO 156 hp with a electric thruster 85 kW (115 hp) to offer 218 CV y 400 Nm of pair. Both are managed by an automatic double clutch transmission Six-speed DSG that transmits its force to the front axle.
With this mechanical configuration, which we also find in the Skoda Superb iV, the Volkswagen Arteon plug-in hybrid signs an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds and a round tip of 222 km / hFigures that are very similar to that of its Czech first cousin (7.7 seconds and 224 km / h). By activating only the electric motor it can circulate up to 130 km / h.
In the same way, the electric motor draws its energy from a 13 kWh battery (9.6 kWh of useful capacity), which is integrated into the flat bottom of the car, ahead of the rear axle.
In the case of Arteon, it certifies in WLTP cycle up to 59 kilometers of electric autonomy, while with the Shooting Brake bodywork it does the same in 57 kilometers, so both have the ZERO label. Volkswagen presumes that this Arteon PHEV, combining gasoline and electricity, can sign a total autonomy of 900 kilometers.
Regarding consumption and emissions, also in WLTP, the Arteon eHybrid certifies between 1,5 y 1,1 l / 100 km and between 33 and 24 g / km of CO2. For its part, the Areton Shooting Brake eHybrid promises the same fuel consumption, but its emissions are slightly higher (35-25 g / km of CO₂).
Equipment and prices of the Volkswagen Arteon eHybrid
