Bogotá, Feb 9 (EFE) .- The Major Division of Colombian Soccer (Dimayor), which organizes the country’s professional tournaments, will implement the Financial Fair Play in the hands of LaLiga, from Spain, and with the aim of improving and stabilizing the club situation.
“Today the 35 clubs have publicly decided to make a commitment to implement Financial Fair Play, a key tool in the development of football in other countries. The most palpable example is that of the Spanish league,” said the president of Dimayor, Fernando Jaramillo.
The manager pointed out that “the Financial Fair Play is an exercise of self-regulation of the clubs” and that its implementation will take between two and four years.
“This is a process that will bring the standardization of financial reports for Dimayor and of course for the control entities, reports that will be unified,” he detailed.
He added: “Also in this process the balance point will be made in the financial statements of the clubs to also promote a balance from the point of view of budgets, which obey a reality and a point of balance that can be determined technically”.
Another objective is that the debts of the teams are reduced, responsible expenses are promoted and that the directors of the clubs understand that the idea is to pay the money they owe to creditors in an orderly manner.
“With the Financial Fair Play we also want to promote that the clubs basically do not spend more than what comes into their financial part and that they can have a balance between what those expenses are and those income. We also want the accumulated debts that the clubs have can be solved, “added Jaramillo.
LaLiga’s corporate general director, José Guerra, said that “to be collaborating with Dimayor in Colombia is a pleasure, an honor” and pointed out that in the three years of cooperation they have carried out, this is the most important project they have developed.
“I think we are at a time when without a doubt this agreement, the contribution of our experience, is going to be more transformative for the Colombian league, just as it was for the Spanish league,” he said.
The LaLiga delegate in Colombia, Julián Gómez, also said that the cooperation agreement with Dimayor was renewed until 2023 and stressed that the fruits of it are evident in this initiative, in which they have been working for more than a year and a half. EFE
