The first season of FIFA Sound will feature the participation of footballers and artists such as Ivan Rakitic, Carli Lloyd, Asisat Oshoala, Deyna Castellanos, Lele Pons, Tiwa Savage, Wretch 32 o Morat.
This formula is designed to “create innovative and meaningful connections between football fans, music lovers, the players, the artists, and the sport and the songs that they all like the most ”.
“FIFA strives to make football truly global, accessible and inclusive in the future. The combination of football and music, two universal languages with the power to evoke incomparable emotions, encourages this cultural openness. They complement each other naturally, ”argued Jean-François Pathy, FIFA’s marketing director.
FIFA Sound’s first proposal consists of an eight episode podcast series. The FIFA PlayOn program will be hosted by Universal Music Group music star Liam Payne, accompanied by sportscaster Jaydee Dyer, as well as an award-winning soccer star and artist.
In every episode, footballers will remember key moments of their careers on and off the field through songs that make up the soundtrack of their lives. Each player will be accompanied by a renowned musician who has inspired them and together they will address the connections between both worlds.
“I really want people to hear about the work we have done with FIFA. Recording PlayOn has been a fantastic journey in which we have brought together amazing players and guests who have shared their stories with us, on and off the field, through the prism of music, “said Liam Payne.
The initiative began on Wednesday, January 13 in plataformas como Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts y Amazon Music, among other. Every Wednesday a new episode will be published. The lists with the songs chosen by each player will be available on Spotify for listeners to enjoy.
