On the fourth day of the BetPlay 2021 League, Deportes Tolima visited the Hernán Ramírez Villegas with the intention of winning against the championship collector, Deportivo Pereira.
Despite playing as a visitor, those led by Hernán Torres imposed conditions from the first minutes. Juan Pablo Nieto took over the midfield and began to wreak havoc in rival territory. On the other hand, the Pereiran painting managed to peek into Álvaro Montero’s portico based on individualities. Nothing else. In this sense, Brayan Castrillón was the most incisive with medium distance shots.
Despite both teams’ intentions to open the scoring, there was not a single shot on target in the first half hour of the game. Just the first clear, the work of Tolima, arrived at 35 minutes, after a right corner from Juan David Ríos that Harlen Castillo saved with just enough.
Just in the last moments of the first half, the visit almost went ahead thanks to the still ball. Nieto took a corner kick, Gustavo Adrián Ramírez combed it and Sergio Mosquera tapped it at the far post, but the ball hit the crossbar.
The game resumed with problems for the local team. The goalkeeper Castillo suffered physical problems on his left foot and almost requested the change. Barely ten minutes had elapsed at that time. With the passing of the minutes, the controversies were taking center stage. On the hour of the game, Anderson Plata gained speed inside the area and fell after Castillo’s departure. All of Tolima asked for maximum penalty, but the central judge decreed absolutely nothing. Later, Mosquera narrowly left 10 men to visit after a strong entry on Wilfrido de La Rosa. Despite having tried more eagerly than football, Hernán Torres’s men did not have clarity in the last third of the court and ended up appealing only to the aerial game. The income of Albornoz and the ‘Tico’ Ortíz did not cause the expected effect.
Finally everything ended in a draw. The Tolima were left with six points, while Pereira managed to get out of the bottom of the table and adds two units.
