Magnussen will be pursuing an endurance triumph like his father – four-time Le Mans GT winner Jan Magnussen. Will have like companions in Peugeot to Jean-Éric Vergne, Paul di Resta, Loïc Duval, Gustavo Menezes y Mikkel Jensen. “Le Mans is the largest endurance race in the world, it is a race that everyone wants to win, it has a lot of history and Peugeot is a big part of that history. I hope to be able to contribute to that history,” he said in a video released by the French.
Magnussen left Formula 1 after the 2020 season after Haas decided not to renew him. However, he is convinced that his time in the premier class has brought him positive things that will help him face this challenge.
“I have learned a lot. I have gained a lot of experience in the seven years that I have been in Formula 1 working with complex and advanced cars, in an environment with a lot of pressure. When we go to Le Mans and the WEC, we will have a lot of pressure and I think working in that environment is something I’m used to. So I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter, “he explained.
The former Haas pilot is clear about what he wants to achieve and that is to climb to the top. Also, consider that you are on the right team to achieve it. Peugeot won at Le Mans in 1992, 1993 and 2009. This last time, with Marc Gené as one of its drivers.
“I have great ambitions and I think, looking back, that Peugeot has always been very successful in every motorsport program that it has joined and that matches my ambitions for Le Mans and the Championship,” Kevin concluded.
