Striker Harry Kane, who is out due to injury, could reappear with Tottenham next week, coach José Mourinho said Wednesday.
The English international is making “good progress” in his recovery process.
“He is satisfied with his progress and we are obviously very happy too,” Mourinho explained at a press conference ahead of Thursday’s game against Chelsea, valid for matchday 22 of the Premier League.
“I think it is not too optimistic to say that he should play next week. It would be the consequence of this satisfactory evolution,” he added.
Tottenham were leading in early December but after falling to Brighton they fell to sixth place with 33 points, making Kane’s return especially valuable for Londoners at a delicate moment.
After the match against Chelsea (7th), Tottenham host West Bromwich on Sunday.
Next week, the ‘Spurs’ face Everton in the round of 16 of the English Cup, on Wednesday 10 February, before visiting Manchester City on Saturday of that week.
Kane is directly involved in the plays of 23 of the 34 goals scored by Tottenham in this Premier League.
Mourinho was also asked by Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea’s new manager.
“He comes from a championship (the French, where he coached Paris Saint-Germain) that cannot be compared to the Premier League, but he is used to working with very high-level players, he is used to changing rooms with stars. He will integrate well in a club like Chelsea “, said the ‘Special One’.
