The FC Barcelona announced last Monday that it had reached an agreement with Benfica for the completion of the transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo to set course for a new destination. The French footballer went to Nice in the form of a loan and after playing his first game he spoke about his stay in Barcelona.
The player explained that he does not regret having signed for the Barça organization so young and stated that at that time he had great players ahead of him. He also said that Valverde, at the head of the team at that time, had a lot of pressure and decided to put other players instead of him.
“No, not at all. FC Barcelona continues to be a very great experience. I learned a lot from Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti, Clément Lenglet. It did me good. I discovered the very, very high level ”. He understood that I did not have the desired minutes: “I did not succeed because there were very, very big players in front of me. I also had a coach, Ernesto Valverde, who was under pressure, with a hobby that put a lot of pressure, so it was normal for him to put Gerard Piqué rather than an inexperienced 19-year-old, “he explained.
Agreement for the assignment of Todibo
As reported by the Barça club, Nice takes over the player’s file and has a purchase option of 8.5 million euros, plus 7 million in variables.
Todibo, 21, arrived at Barcelona during the winter market of the 2018-19 season from French Toulouse. He made his debut as a Barça player, and a starter, at Huesca-Barça on matchday 32 of LaLiga Santander.
His record contains the League title won by Barça during the 2018-19 season. In the second half of the 2019-20 academic year, Todibo played on loan for Schalke 04 and then went on loan to Benfica.
