The Professional Soccer League (LPF) will carry out today the draw for the fixture of the next Argentine tournament that will deliver a place for the 2022 Copa Libertadores de América.

The ceremony will take place from 7 pm at the Hilton Hotel in Puerto Madero and will feature the participation of the most important leaders of Argentine football, led by the president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia.

The next Argentine tournament, which still has no official name and will have the validity of a National Cup, like the one that ended last month and enshrined Boca Juniors as champion, and will have a total of 26 teams that will be divided into two zones of 13 .

In addition, the contest will feature “interzonal confrontations” and the dispute of the most important classics of local football, among which Boca Juniors – River Plate and Racing Club – Independiente stand out.

The points that each team gets will be taken into account for the averages when the decreases – suspended during the pandemic – return in local football.

The teams that finish in the first four places in their respective zones will qualify for the next instance.

In the quarterfinals, the first of each group will be measured against the quarters of the other zone, while those that finish located in the second and third place of the general tables will face each other.

The clashes for the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final will be played as a single match and on a neutral court.

The final of the tournament will have extra time -extend- in case the match ends tied in the ninety regulatory minutes. If equality persists, the champion will be known through the penalty shootout.
