América and Monterrey became co-leaders of Mexican soccer this Saturday after defeating Puebla and Pumas with the same result (1-0), respectively, in the continuation of the fifth day of the Guard1anes Clausura-2021 tournament.
At the Azteca stadium, America beat Puebla 1-0 with a goal from Colombian Roger Martínez, the striker emerged from Racing (originally, legend has it, it did not take place in the Boca and Argentinos Inferiores), and who had steps -on loan- by Santamarina in the Ascenso and Aldosivi before being sold to Chinese football.

Martinez, who entered the court 15 minutes into the second half, scored the winning goal six minutes later to give the victory to the Eagles, who now have 10 points, with which they occupy the second place in the table, led by Monterrey (they surpass it by goal difference, in addition to having one game less).

It was the second goal of the Clausura for Martínez, who had been relegated with coach Miguel Herrera and is having more participation with the successor Santiago Solari. The Argentine coach is in his first tournament in Mexico. “We have to improve a lot of things, finish recovering those who are out and get them to catch up,” he said. With three wins, one draw, one loss and 10 points, América de Solari shows the sixth best offense, with six goals in five games, and his defense is the third safest, with four scores received.

For its part, at the BBVA stadium, Monterrey beat the Pumas of the National Autonomous University of Mexico 1-0. The minute 31 was played when the Ivorian Ake Loba scored 1-0 for the Rayados with a shot inside the small area.
