Inter Milan became the provisional leader of Serie A thanks to their 2-0 victory at Fiorentina, this Friday in the first match of the 21st round of the Italian championship.
Nicolo Barella (minute 31), with a good shot after an assist from Chilean Alexis Sánchez, and Croatian Ivan Perisic (52), finishing off a ball from Achraf Hakimi at the far post, scored the goals from the inside at the Artemio Franchi stadium.
The team led by Antonio Conte now has 47 points and beats AC Milan by one (46), who drops to second place, awaiting their match this weekend, which will be on Sunday at home in San Siro before bottom, Crotone.
In Serie A, Inter have won three of their last four matches – the other was a draw – mainly relying on their defensive strength, as they did not concede a goal in any of those matches.
This victory gives peace to the Lombard team, before their next important match, on Tuesday in Turin against Juventus, in the second leg of the Italian Cup semifinals.
Inter lost 2-1 at home on Tuesday this week and need a great comeback in Turin to be in the final.

The goal is especially important for a team that has already experienced the enormous disappointment of their premature elimination from European competitions, by finishing bottom in their Champions League group.
In Serie A, Inter were at least able to fulfill their mission this Friday and send a significant dose of pressure to their neighbor Milan, who need to beat Crotone to return to top position.
Fiorentina (12th), meanwhile, remains in the middle zone, although closer to the relegation zone than to the European positions.
